THE body of a man has been discovered in a large town centre park.
The emergency services were called at around 12.20am on Wednesday following reports of a concern for welfare.
However once they arrived at the scene in Thompson Park off Queen Victoria Road in Burnley, officers sadly discovered the body of a man in his 50s.
There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death.
A file was prepared and has now been passed to HM Coroner.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "We were called at around 12.20am on Wednesday, July 1st) to reports of a concern for welfare.
"Officers attended Thompson Park in Burnley, where the body of a man aged in his 50s was sadly located.
"At this time there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and a file has been passed to HM Coroner.
"Our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this sad time."
