QUIZZERS putting their brains to the test during lockdown have helped to raise hundreds of pounds for a Bury charity.

Participants in the popular Jay’s Virtual Pub Quiz have donated over £1,000 to The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity (SuperJosh).

The much-needed funds will go directly to supporting children and families who are suffering with childhood brain tumours and post-surgery disabilities.

Dawn Fidler, chief executive of SuperJosh and mum to Joshua Wilson, said: “We couldn't be more grateful for this amazing gift.

"These vital funds will benefit so many people and we have to say a massive thank-you to Jay and all his quiz members for the donation.”

The Virtual Pub Quiz was created during lockdown and is the brainchild of former pub landlord Jay Flynn from Darwen, Lancashire

Over the last few months the quiz has swelled to boast more than 300,000 participants, with people from across the globe tuning in to test their knowledge.

Mr Flynn said: “I am delighted to be able to support organisations such as The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity.

"The quiz has really taken off and it’s great to be able to give back whilst providing entertainment for so many people.”
