A YOUNGSTER from Radcliffe has been spending his lockdown honing his culinary skills - and has attracted celebrity fans along the way.

Under the watchful eye of mum Sara, Rocco Greene, 10, has been creating a range of dishes using skills beyond his young years, sharing the results to social media.

The budding chef has attracted the interest of MasterChef's Gregg Wallace, who 'follows' him on Instagram and has praised the youngster for his efforts.

Sara said that Rocco has been interested in cooking and cooking shows since a young age, and she decided to use the lockdown to "let him loose in the kitchen."

She said: "He has always watched cooking programmes and its something that has always been with him.

"With lockdown, we have had a lot more time to do things so I decided to let him loose in the kitchen and he has really surprised me with how well he has done.

"I'm half Italian and half Jewish, so he has been brought into this crazy world of food and has grown up with lots of different things."

In addition to Gregg Wallace, many foodies and businesses follow him, as well as 2018 MasterChef semi-finalist Nisha Parmar, who is now a private chef for celebrities.

Rocco and Sara have also set up a YouTube account, in which he gives tips and shows how he creates some of his dishes.

He counts Italian food and chicken dishes among his favourite things to cook.

Sara added: "He has really embraced it and has been cooking for family and friends - he really has learned loads over the past four months.

"He is really creative and has been doing a lot off his own bat. It has really shocked me with what he has come up with.

"He has always wanted to be a pilot or a chef and he has never veered off that."
