Police deployed at Lewisham Station have made two arrests, including one male taken into custody after allegedly attempting to supply drugs to minors then fighting railway staff.
Officers from the Met Police and the British Transport Police conducted a joint disruption operation at Lewisham Station on July 8, targeting antisocial behaviour on the railway network.
One male was taken into custody after he was found to be wanted for breached a tagged curfew issued at Bromley Magistrates Court.
The second male was arrested for being concerned in the supply of drugs after he allegedly offered two youngsters drugs whilst on the public transport network.
The male was also arrested for a public order offence after an altercation with railway staff.
Following his arrest, the suspect was inspected by London Ambulance Service due to concerns for his health, but has been medically cleared.
Lewisham Police said both males are in custody at a south London police station.
Operation Avara has become a common occurrence in south east London in recent months, with police officers and at times metal detectors and police dogs targeting transport hubs such stations in Greenwich, Woolwich, Bexley and Lewisham.
