A DRIVER was arrested after police were "overwhelmed" by the smell of cannabis coming from a car in front of them.

Officers in Bury pulled the car over last night and discovered around £1,000 worth of drugs.

The driver also tested positive for drug driving.

Officers arrested the driver on suspicion of drug driving and suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply.

Police said "Bury officers were overwhelmed by the smell of cannabis omitting from a vehicle ahead of them. Vehicle was stopped and around £1000 in cannabis was recovered, leading to the driver testing positive for drug driving."

The arrests were carried out by GMP Transport Unit which recovered weapons, drugs, and seize vehicles throughout Greater Manchester.

This included finding a man in possession of a knife in Urmston following a stop search.

Posting the details on their social media page, officers said:"Apparently he only carries it so he can snort his cocaine off it."
