A MAN has pleaded guilty to causing the death of his brother following a fatal car crash in Bolton.
24-year-old Idiris Mohammed died following the incident which happened shortly before 11.30pm on September 9, 2019.
The crash involved an Audi S3, driven by Ahmed Haider, and a BMW M135i, driven by Zekeriye Mohammed which collided at the intersection of St Helens Road and Plodder Lane near Four Lane Ends.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and fire crews had to cut one man from a vehicle.
Mr Mohammed, who had been a back seat passenger in the BMW was taken to Salford Royal Hospital with serious injuries but later died.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) later released CCTV footage showing both cars travelling at high-speed along Derby Street and St Helens Road shortly before the fatal hit and run crash.
Both drivers were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following the crash with Mohammed, 24, of Deane Road, Bolton, appearing at Bolton Crown Court today (Monday, August 10) where he pleaded guilty to causing the death of his brother by careless driving and a separate charge of dangerous driving, just a day before a trial was supposed to take place.
Haider, 23, of Fenton Road, Birmingham, has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, failing to give details to the police, failing to report an accident and breaching a deportation order.
He is currently in custody.
His Honour, Judge Martin Walsh, the Honourable Recorder of Bolton, ordered a pre-sentence report with Mohammed released on unconditional bail.
Both Mohammed and Haider will be sentenced on September 3, 2020, at Bolton Crown Court.
