Have you ever wondered where the most dangerous roads in Bolton for cyclists are?

According to the Crash Map, over 120 ‘serious’ pedal cycle accidents have occurred between 2010 and 2019 in Bolton.

Chorley New Road is one of the most dangerous in Bolton for cyclists. Since 2010, 12 serious accidents have occurred on the road.

Bury and Bolton Road is also an accident hotspot, and nine serious cycling accidents have occurred on this long road.

The B6226 is one of the more dangerous roads in Bolton and four serious cycling accidents have occurred on the road since 2010.

While Bolton town centre itself has remained largely accident free with 10 ‘slight’ accidents reported since 2010, the same can’t be said for roads leading into the centre.

Since 2010,  St Helens Road has seen four serious accidents and Manchester Road has seen three serious accidents.

Bolton’s worst roads for cyclists in 2019

According to Crash Maps, the worst Bolton roads for cyclists in 2019 alone was on Blackburn road where one ‘serious’ and one ‘slight’ accident occurred.

Bolton Road between Atherton and Newbrook Road was also a dangerous road for cyclists- one serious and one slight accident occurred on this road in 2019.

Bury Road also tops the list, with two ‘slight’ incidents reported- Plodder Lane also saw one serious accident last year.
