THE Imperial has revealed its new beer garden using repurposed wooden pallets for a touch of industrial chic.

Couple Stacey and Dan Barker wanted to stay busy and make the most of the downtime during the lockdown so they have given their outdoor space a makeover in time for the balmy weather.

Stacey, a former St Alban's Primary School pupil, said: "My husband Dan is very handy so he has been able to do all the work himself.

"He took a massive shine to using wooden pallets. So we had tables, planters and the cafe bar all built from them.

"He also converted the inside of our garden horsebox bar – 'Peaky Blinders' – using pallet wood.

The pub – home to Mrs Massey's Munchies – now has 11 benches on the grass area next to the play area.

On the decking there are tub chairs and a high table that seats six people as well as a TV area and nearby is a rattan furniture set plus two bistro-style table sets.

There is plenty of room with space around 90 under social distancing rules.

Stacey's mum Alana has also relaunched the Mrs Massey's Munchies cafe – for eat-in customers.

It was very popular as a takeaway during the lockdown and is now taking part in the Eat Out to Help Out government scheme.

Stacey, 31, added: "Since reopening we have seen a massive increase in new faces coming to see us plus all our lovely regulars.

"We’re hoping word has spread about our huge family-friendly beer garden as we’re are so surprised at how many people don’t know it’s there.

Warrington Guardian:

"Lockdown was a worrying and challenging time for us with having three young children. It was the not knowing what was going to happen and when we would be able to reopen.

"But we kept ourselves busy and got through it. We used the lockdown as a good opportunity to get things done like the beer garden and we enjoyed plenty of family time as well.

"We just want to thank everyone who has supported us all throughout lockdown.

"The amount of messages sent to both of us checking in and making sure we were ok and the support we've had reopening has been amazing. We have made some great friends through the pub."
