POLICE are encouraging people with information on drug supply in their communities to come forward after officers carried out raids.

A number of people were arrested after specialist teams from Cumbria Police forced entry to two homes on Barrow Island.

Four people who arrested after the force's South Area Drugs Unit worked alongside the South Proactive Support Group to execute a warrant in the area.

Three of the group have since appeared before a court, facing charges of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

They were remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at crown court.

A spokesman from Cumbria Police said: "A warrant executed by officers from Cumbria Police’s South Area Dugs Unit and South Proactive Support Group has resulted in three being charged and appearing at court this week.

"Officers attended Steamer Street in Barrow on Tuesday. forcing entry at two addresses and making four arrests.

Those who have been charged and remanded in custody following an appearance at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court are Michael Claughton, 37, of Steamer Street; Helen Ungor, 54, of Steamer Street; and Reece Roach, 21, of Window Lane in Liverpool

They have all been scheduled to appear at Preston Crown Court on September 11.

Police said the fourth arrest made was of a 15-year-old from the Liverpool area who has been released on bail.

A spokesman said: "The South Area Drugs Unit would like to encourage anyone with knowledge or information regarding drugs supply in their community to get in touch, either to Cumbria Police directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers."
