WELCOME to Pub of the Week.

Each Thursday we take a look at your local and help showcase a pub that’s at the heart of Oldham’s community.

If you're a landlord or landlady and you’d like to feature or a regular that wants to nominate your favourite pub then get in touch below by filling in the q and a.

Name of pub: The Daisyfield Inn

Address of pub:

14 Keb Lane, Bardsley

Oldham

OL8 2TE

Landlord/landlady name: Michael Buckley.

How long have you been the landlord/landlady for?

I took over during lockdown, we were due to take it on the Tuesday and lockdown happened on the Friday we literally moved into a closed pub! It gave us time to get thing straight but it was a very strange experience.

Bar staff: We have a couple of staff but they don’t want to have their names in the paper.

History of the pub: It has always been here, as far as I can remember - the building is 200 years old and has always been a pub.

Is food served if so what’s on the menu? No, just wet sales on our menu.

Is there a beer garden? We have a massive beer garden as it used to be a bowling green, we have a kiddies play area and benches. It’s a family friendly beer garden.

Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams? We do and we will have them back together when we are allowed, but we will get it back up and running and win what we can.

Most popular drink served is: Lager on draft, pints of it too.

Most memorable moment? Opening the doors on the 4th July. We took over but it was pre lockdown so we had to put everything right.

Do you have an entertainment line up? We do when we can and the restrictions are lifted.

Have you faced any challenges within the industry? Covid has obviously been a nightmare.

The best thing about running a pub is… The social side of it, we have new customers and it’s great to meet new people.

It’s a friendly and inviting local and is at the heart of the community. That’s the good thing about it.

The worst thing about running a pub is… The restrictions that are in place at the moment, having to keep reminding people what they can and can’t do. Following the rules is hard after an alcoholic drink so we have to be extra precautious.

How have you had to adapt following Covid to keep your customers safe? We have the scan and go for track and trace so that all customers are kept safe.

What is the pub best known for? Former footballer Paul Scholes has been in couple of times, so I have been told. That’s a claim to fame!

Perfect hangover cure: Another beer, definitely.
