A WOMAN from Bury who has previously worked on shows including Coronation Street and The Crown has taken up a new venture - selling sourdough at Radcliffe Market.

Lorna Black, 27, normally works in TV as a costume supervisor, but with the industry completely shutting down she decided to pursue her passion for sourdough baking.

The move has proven to be a hit with market-goers so far, as Lorna often sells out within a couple of hours of opening each day.

Open three days a week - Thursday, Friday and Saturday - 'Lo So Do' has received much praise.

Lorna said: "I got a degree in fashion design and have worked freelance since graduating. I have also been cooking since I was a child and have been making sourdough for the past couple of years.

"I started bringing in bread and giving it to people I was working with and they encouraged me to start selling them.

"My family were also getting sick of my bread so I decided to go for it."

Sourdough is made from flour, water and salt and is left to slowly ferment with the help of naturally occurring yeast in the environment.

Lorna has received training from an artisan food course and has said that her products are fully natural - missing out the ingredients often used for commercial products.

Lorna has previously also worked on shows such as Bancroft and the upcoming film adaptation of Everybody's Talking About Jamie (film)

The bakery has been open for a couple of weeks - starting at nine and often selling out its stock by 11.

While still retaining some freelance work, the bakery has allowed Lorna to undertake another "creative project", something which she loves to do.

She added: "I didn't expect to open a bakery and after I asked online, it snowballed and and the response was so positive.

"I've experienced bakeries in France and Spain where they are all local ones and people have nice bread. I wanted to bring that back here."
