A BENCH dedicated to a late community champion has been vandalised only hours after it was first erected.
Arthur Robinson was a ‘proud and active’ Woolston resident who served on Woolston Parish Council for decades.
He died in March this year, aged 84.
A bench was put up in Woolston Linear Park earlier this month in memory of him and his wife Jean, who died three years ago at the age of 80.
But within 24 hours, it had been targeted by vandals.
Resident Alan Daintith said: “Arthur was a leading figure on Woolston Parish Council and was dedicated to the upkeep of the park for everyone to enjoy.
“Unfortunately some scumbags have vandalised the bench, peeling off the paint.
“Have these scumbags no respect for anyone or anything?
“I hope they rot in hell.”
