RESIDENTS at a Lymm care home have enjoyed a fantastic trip to Italy – but not in the way you might expect.

Those living at Brookfield Care Home, in Brookfield Road, were treated to spectacular architecture and delicious food during their virtual trip to the continent.

After being given the choice of where they would like to visit, residents decided they wanted to head to Italy, due to warm weather, cuisine and sights.

And staff were all to happy to make their wish come true by decorating the lounge area with flags, photos and boarding passes to transport residents to their dream destination.

During their trip, residents enjoyed visiting and learning about Italy’s monuments and historic attractions using Google Maps, the internet and virtual tours.

They were then treated to breakfast and dinner prepared by the home’s talented chef, which included croissants and pasta.

The fun did not stop there, as residents enjoyed Italian-style music and were able to show off their new-found knowledge of the country by participating in a quiz.

Sarah Nolan, general manager at Brookfield, said: “The home’s day trip to Italy was a very fun experience that the residents thoroughly enjoyed.

“We are continually adapting and finding new ways to make sure every effort is focused on creating an enjoyable environment for all of our residents, while adhering to social distancing advice.

“Staff at Brookfield came together to host the virtual day trip and residents enjoyed the variety of activities on offer.”
