BLEAKHOLT Animal Santuary volunteers said that they are in need of loving owners for the sanctuary's abandoned pets.

If you could re-home an animal you would be giving it an extra chance in life and a comfortable forever-home.

Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary manager Karen Weed said that admissions are still coming in during lockdown and is urging people to get in touch.

She said: "Whilst we are currently closed and unable to have visitors on site, we will be taking applications for our dogs and cats. Once we are able to start booking visitors in, we will contact you to arrange an appointment."

To make an appliation for one of the animals visit www.bleakholt.org, fill out the application form, mention the animal's name and email it to info@bleakholt.org.

Here's this week's pets in need of re-homing, each described by Karen Weed.

Kylo

Bury Times: Kylo

Kylo is a three year old American Bulldog cross Staffie. Kylo is looking for a home experienced with large breeds and willing to do further training. Kylo is very strong on lead and does panic at times and react to certain things, mainly the occasional dogs. He has improved greatly with this and does have a few dog pals who he goes for walks with.

He has a very playful side and is very much a water baby and loves to play with toys. Kylo is looking for a new home with adults only who have time to input and train him further. A home without visiting children is a must. Kylo will require a good settling in period where he gets lots of exercise to use up his energy. He has potential to live with a female dog but not small breeds. Kylo is looking for a home without cats or small pets and he is not suitable for a first time dog owner

Baloo

Bury Times: Baloo

This big lad is Baloo, a male Akita that we think is around 2 years old, as he came to us as a stray we have no history on him. Baloo can be timid until he gets to know you then he is very confident and can be mouthy. We are looking for a home with people who have Akita experience as he is typical of this breed.

As we have no history on Baloo we are looking for an adult only home due to his over confidence once he knows you. Baloo isn’t great with other dogs so needs a pet free home. He is very strong and does pull on the lead, so some basic training is needed, we aren’t sure if Baloo has ever lived in a home or if he was an outside dog, so he may take some time to settle into a home environment. If you think Baloo is the dog for you please get in touch or fill out an application for him. Baloo is not suitable for a first time dog owner.

Nutella

Bury Times: Nutella

Nutella is a friendly, playful boy who loves attention. He came to us when his owners couldn’t afford his vet treatment, Nutella has had issues with urinary tract infections and so is on a special urinary diet to prevent the problem from recurring. This prescription diet is more expensive than average cat food so whoever takes him on would have to understand this and be willing to fund it. Our vet has suggested that he should be homed to a quiet, adult only home as stress can trigger UTI’s, although he doesn’t seem to be an easily stressed cat we feel like this is still for the best. Nutella needs to be a house cat so his diet can be controlled.

Princess

Bury Times: Princess

Princess is a friendly female who loves to have her head rubs and chin tickles on her own terms. She is a stereotypical female who likes attention but will tell you once she has had enough. Due to her entering her senior years, she would prefer a quieter home with adults and teenagers so she can be left to her own devices. She does have runny eyes that will need cleaning daily to stop them staining her beautiful white fur.
