PEOPLE who have recently been made redundant in Burnley may have more options open to them then they anticipated thanks to a business organisation’s drive to aid new start-up companies.

The Landmark Business Club, a group partnered with East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, Burnley College and others will be running an event in the town for this very purpose this week.

The business start-up event will act as a hub bringing together some of Lancashire’s most innovative entrepreneurs and support groups in order to provide advice and guidance to anyone, but especially those recently made redundant, interested in setting up their own company.

Landmark director Mark Crabtree OBE said: “We are seeing increased demand for our business club facilities from people who don’t want to work from home but want a Covid-safe collaborative workspace and it only seems right that we need to support people who have been made redundant to help them move forward without fear in starting a new career as well.”

Mr Crabtree is a former chair of Burnley Bondholders and founder of AMS Neve, a company specialising in digital and analogue music consoles, outboard and post-production equipment.

He hopes that events like this will help to provide a glimmer of hope at a time when the impact of coronavirus and the ensuing lockdown has wrought huge damage to the economy with the government predicting unemployment rates to rise significantly in the next 12 months.

The event this week will involve an introduction from Mr Crabtree followed by talk from a range of experts from the business world and a tour of the Landmark building.

The event will take place at The Landmark, Burnley, from 11am to 1pm on Thursday.
