A TOTTINGTON teenager has become the star of McDonald's latest advert - with his face being seen by millions of people on prime time television.

Joshua Ord, 16, a former Tottington High School pupil, has starred in the fast food chain’s newest advert - a sentimental look at the little things in life that has even brought some viewers to tears.

The apprentice barber was picked from a pool of thousands and has said that he hopes the advert can kickstart a potential career in acting.

He said: “It’s quite surreal and it is quite good to actually get such a big company on my second ad. I’ve always wanted to be an actor and hopefully being in this advert can help me get there.

“I like war films and serious roles so I’d want to do something like that. Those sort of things can really show you as an actor.”

Joshua is represented by Warwick Management and has been attending drama classes for more than four years.

Warwick Management has had children from its roster playing main roles in Hollywood films such as Grimsby alongside Sacha Baron Cohen , Coronation street , Emmerdale and Hollyoaks.

Some have eben starred in music Videos for Paul McCartney.

Joshua has previously appeared in a Get Into Teaching advert, as one of the few “featured” pupil characters.

The McDonald's advert shows Joshua’s character receiving the keys to his mum’s old car for his birthday - something which has lads in the streets laughing at him.

However, he embraces the car and thanks his mum with some food from one of the chain’s restaurants.

The advert has made mum, Caroline and dad, Phil, proud, after he appeared to millions during the break for the Britain’s Got Talent final.

Mum Caroline said: “We are immensely proud of him. They were originally looking in London but they couldn’t find what they were looking for so they cast their search wider.

"Some of the comments on Twitter have been really positive and I've seen a couple of people post that it's made them cry.

“We didn’t think he would get it because it’s McDonald's and thousands will have gone for it so we were so chuffed when he did. The nuances and subtleties in the advert were added in by the actress playing the mum and Joshua himself.”
