LANCASHIRE was placed under tier three coronavirus regulations on Friday with a tranche of new rules coming into force.

These will apply all across the county but what will these mean for families on a day-to-day basis?

We answer some of your questions about what the new rules mean for you:

My mum lives in a tier 2 area and I'm tier 3 - can I visit her?

Unfortunately, unless they are in your support bubble you will not be able to visit family members.

My mum’s in a care home in tier 3, will I be able to see her?

Tier 3 rules advise against visiting a care home except in exceptional circumstances, such as end of life.

Who can I socialise with?

People in tier 3 are advised not to socialise outside their household and support bubble.

Can I still have builders and plumbers in my home?

Yes, like the first lockdown workmen are classed as essential and will be allowed into your home.

Can I still travel for work?

Travel will only be allowed if it absolutely essential and if your work cannot be carried out from home.

I have a holiday booked; can I still go?

Holidays are not specifically banned but you are still advised not to leave the area.

You may have to quarantine in the country you arrive in and for 14 days when you return.

Will Halloween and Bonfire Night still be going ahead?

It is advised that children do not go door-to-door this Halloween while public Bonfire Night events are cancelled, however you can still celebrate in your own home.

Will my gym have to shut?

It is not compulsory for gyms to shut in tier 3 areas but some local authorities may still decide it is safer for them to do so.

Where can't I go?

Non-food-serving pubs and bars are now closed – along with bingo halls, casinos, bookmakers, soft play areas, licensed clubs and adult gaming centres.

What are the rules on moving house or flat?

You are still allowed to move house, view, rent and buy properties, even in a tier 3 area.

Can I go to family weddings?

In tier 3 areas wedding ceremonies are allowed but receptions aren’t allowed. In tier 2 receptions are restricted to 15 people.

What will happen at Christmas?

There may be a slight relaxation of the rules over Christmas for all tiers, such as extending the rule of six to ten, but nothing has been decided upon as yet
