Two YouTubers were blown away by what Bolton had to offer after they visited the town to make a 10 minute travel video.

Aidan Rhode and Allan Purves, both 17 from Buxton and Glossop respectively, have collaborated on a series of films on the video sharing platform Youtube where they visit a town chosen at random and pack in as much as they can in 10 minutes.

The lighthearted video, filmed in January, shows the pair setting off from Manchester Piccadilly train station, arriving in Bolton and taking in the sights.

Of course, it's not really filmed over that period of time but after editing the footage it's condensed down.

Residents will recognise some much loved landmarks, including the Fred Dibnah statue and the mummy at the Egyptian Exhibit.

The video has been shared on Aidan's YouTube Channel, The Aidanator, which has a monthly viewership of around 10,000 views.

Aidan, an aspiring filmmaker, said: "At the start of the video we select a destination that we can get to by train at random, and for this one we ended up with Bolton.

"Neither of us knew what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised, from what we saw we were very impressed.

"There's definitely a lot going on and there was so much we could do for free - the Egyptian exhibit was just sublime.

"The aquarium was pretty cool and we loved the Fred Dibnah statue, the only disappointing thing were the churches. One had been converted into flats and the other into a shopping centre, terrible if you're a tourist."

The YouTubers have previously visited destinations such as Crewe and Sandbach, but Bolton has been their favourite one so far.

Allan said: "It's definitely up there, what's impressive is that the train station is at the heart of the town.

"It was good to see a proper market too, it made other markets look like a teaspoon compared to the ladle that is Bolton Market. I had a great pork pie there.

"I think we'll definitely come on a second visit, maybe this time it will be an 11 minute trip. There's still more to see and we welcome any recommendations."

The video has received a positive response online, with commenters saying that it makes them proud of their home town.
