TWO YouTubers were blown away by what Bolton had to offer after they visited the town to make a 10-minute travel video.

Aidan Rhode and Allan Purves, both 17 and from Buxton and Glossop respectively, have collaborated on a series of films on the video-sharing platform YouTube where they visit a town chosen at random and pack in as much as they can in 10 minutes.

The light-hearted video shows the pair setting off from Manchester Piccadilly train station, arriving in Bolton and taking in the sights.

Of course, it’s not really filmed over that period of time but after editing the footage it’s condensed down.

The Bolton News:

Residents will recognise the Fred Dibnah statue and the mummy at the Egyptian Exhibition.

The video has been shared on Aidan’s YouTube Channel, The Aidanator, which has a monthly viewership of around 10,000 views.

The Bolton News:

Aidan said: “At the start of the video we select a destination that we can get to by train at random, and for this one we ended up with Bolton.

“Neither of us knew what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised, from what we saw we were very impressed.

“There’s definitely a lot going on and there was so much we could do for free - the Egyptian exhibit was just sublime.

The Bolton News:

“The aquarium was pretty cool and we loved the Fred Dibnah statue, the only disappointing thing were the churches. One had been converted into flats and the other into a shopping centre, terrible if you’re a tourist.”

The YouTubers say Bolton is their favourite place on their visits so far.

Allan added: “It’s definitely up there, what’s impressive is that the train station is at the heart of the town.”
