A FURTHER 174 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Bolton in the last 24 hours, according to NHS figures.

The number of people confirmed to have had covid-19 in the borough stands at 8.945.

Government date reveals that rate per 100,000 people in the town who have had the virus is 3,110.8, significantly higher than the national rate of 1,315,2.

A total of 1,415 cases have been confirmed in Bolton in the last week, a rate of 505 per 100,000, more than double the national rate of 201.1.

Statistics released by NHS England shows that no deaths related to coronavirus have been confirmed at the Royal Bolton Hospital on Friday or Saturday.

However, eight people who tested positive for covid-19 in the previous 28 days died at the hospital in the first four days of this week.

The number of people who have died at the hospital after testing positive for the virus is 272.

In the UK, 151 people who have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 28 days have died in the last day.

The total number of people in Britain who have died after contracting covid-19 is 44,896, as of around 4.10pm today, Sunday.
