Asda have made a donation to Bolton Lads and Girls Club as part of efforts to feed children this half term.

Christine Baldwin, community champion for Bolton Asda shared a photo of a huge trolley of donations destined for the children's and young people's charity.

Bolton Lads and Girls Club said: "Thank you so much to Asda for their amazing support - helping us provide snacks for our young people this holiday club."

The charity runs the holiday club offering various activities to keep young people occupied.

Places are for children aged eight to 12 and it provides a safe and nurturing environment for young people.

Following MPs' vote against extending free school meals during the holidays, footballer Marcus Rashford has led a nationwide campaign seeing thousands of restaurants and shops pledging to donate food to hungry children this half term.

Asda are among those making donations to help those in poverty and ensuring children don't go hungry during the holidays.

The supermarket chain said: "We're donating almost £100,000 to provide families with access to food during the school holidays.

"The donation, which is funded jointly by Asda and the Asda Foundation, will be given to our community champions in 387 of our larger stores to spend on food for groups providing services to children during half term."
