A NEW memorial bench has been installed at Walshaw - thanks to the generosity of a mystery benefactor.
Cllr Yvonne Wright has previously gained permission for a new Poppy decorated seat near to the cenotaph at Tottington.
And now the same local businessman, who has asked not to be named, has installed the same provision close to the war memorial at Walshaw.
Cllr Wright said: "The businessman would take no payment so we sent £300 to the Royal British Legion from our councillors' community budget in his name."
The councillor says that there are now plans for a third such bench, which will unveiled at Affetside in 2021.
Cllr Wright, who represents Tottington ward for the Conservatives, added: "The benches have been very well received by residents as a constant mark of respect to our fallen."
