COUNCIL bosses have alerted residents about changes to festive bin collections.
There will be no collections on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Instead bins will be collected on Saturday, December 19, except for those containing food and garden containers.
A full collection will then take place on Saturday, January 2.
Christmas trees can be disposed of by placing them in a green bin chopped up or by taking it to a recycling point in either Higher Memorial Park in Failsworth, Royton Park or Werneth Park.
Cllr Barbara Brownbridge said the changes would let staff enjoy three full days off.
She said: “Due to the way Christmas falls the vast majority of residents won’t be affected by these changes. But if your bins are usually collected on a Friday please just take a minute to familiarise yourself with the arrangements.
“This year it’s been hard for all of us and our waste teams have worked in some trying circumstances and in all weathers. This Christmas our staff get three full days off to enjoy with their families."
