POLICE are probing the mystery deaths of two men and a woman at a home in Failsworth in the aftermath of Christmas.

Officers were called to Oldham Road in Monday after paramedics were responding to concern for the welfare of people at a property on at the junction with Old Road.

They attended at the property, which is attached to the Brown Cow pub, and discovered three people dead.

Officers revealed the two men were aged 41 and 39 and the woman was aged 20.

Flowers were set at the scene and the residents of the neighbouring property and the pub declined to comment on what had gone on.

The next of kin of the three people have been informed.

The deaths are being treated as unexplained and forensic officers were in place during the course of the evening to try and establish the circumstances of the deaths.

Yesterday, police said post mortem examinations were carried out on Tuesday, and the pathologist concluded that no cause of death could be determined.

Samples have been submitted for toxicology assessment and we await those results.

Detectives are not looking to speak to anyone in connection with the fatalities and are working to ensure there is no wider risk to the public and no arrests have been made.

One nearby resident said the property was used as a shelter to those fleeing from issues such as domestic violence.

Detective Chief Inspector James Faulkner, of GMP’s Oldham division, offered his condolences to the family.

He said: “My thoughts firstly are with the families of the two men and the woman who tragically have lost their lives - we are offering support to them at this awful time.

“It is important that we are able to establish the circumstances around this tragedy and get the answers for their loved ones through a thorough and comprehensive investigation, and therefore we must keep an open-mind at this very early stage until we have the results of forensic examinations in due course.”

Despite the fact officers are not actively seeking to speak to anyone he encouraged anyone with information to get in touch.

He said: “If anyone has any information they think could be linked to this investigation then I encourage them to speak to police or Crimestoppers as it could prove to be significant.”
