TWO lanes of the M60 have have been shut in both directions due to emergency repairs being carried out on a gas mains which runs near the central reservation.
The repairs are taking place between junction 17 for Prestwich and Whitefield to junction 16 for Pendlebury.
Lanes three and four (Of four) in each both directions are closed while the work is going ahead.
Congested traffic is backing up to Simister Island heading towards Manchester.
And clockwise back to junction 13 for Worsley, with queues on the M61 approaching the Swinton Interchange.
Travel time is around 20 minutes.
