MOTORISTS are being warned that a large section of a busy town centre thoroughfare is shut as part ongoing emergency repairs.
Highways chiefs announced yesterday evening (Tuesday) that there will be a road closure in place at Angouleme Way between Manchester Road and Knowsley, with delays likely.
The drop off point for those attending covid vaccinations has also been moved.
The closure is a result of damaged caused by for burst water mains and the road closure is essential to allow United Utilities to carry out repair and "reinstatement" works.
Both sides of the carriageway will be shut.
In a statement, Bury Council said: "The carriageway is expected to remain closed in both directions for 2-3 weeks and a diversion will be in place directing traffic around Jubilee Way, Peel Way, Derby Way and Rochdale Road.
"If you must travel, please plan ahead and make more time for your journey.
"The drop-off point for those attending an appointment for a covid-19 vaccination is the corner of Knowsley Street.
