Wetherspoons have been warning their customers about a Facebook scam which is offering a free meal voucher in return for 'shares and comments'.
Last week, bosses for the pub chain announced they'd been made aware of several social media scams on Facebook.
The latest one stated that in return for a 'share' of the post, a 'comment of YES' and a 'sign up' to their page, they would receive a voucher for a meal for two with drinks included.
Bosses wanted to clarify with customers that the pub chain, which has several venues across the North West including two in Bury, does not use any form of social media.
A spokesperson for the company said: "We have been made aware of several social media scams on Facebook, like this one:
"These have been reported to Facebook – and we are working hard to have them removed.
"Wetherspoon does not use any social media.
"Any promotions on social media which appear to be from Wetherspoon are, therefore, unofficial and fake – so please do not participate or share your details with such adverts.
"We will continue to report fake pages and do apologise for any inconvenience caused by these unassociated spam accounts."
