A MAN was assaulted with a weapon by a group of youths outside a shop in Horwich on Saturday night.
The attack happened at around 9.30pm outside the Sainsbury's store on Lee Lane where a 26-year-old man was assaulted.
The victim suffered a head injury and ran into the store while the youths quickly left the scene.
No arrests have been made.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Officers were called just after 9.30pm on Saturday to a report of an assault outside Sainsbury's on Lee Lane in Horwich.
"A 26-year-old man was assaulted with a weapon by a group of youths before he ran into the store with a head injury which is not thought to be serious.
"Colleagues from North West Ambulance Service also attended.
"The group ran off from the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 2,941 of April 10.
"Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
