A DRINK-driver caught behind the wheel of a BMW has been banned from holding a licence for 18 months. Magistrates heard how Glynne Moore, aged 39, of Oakwood Grove, Radcliffe, was driving the car on Hornby Street, Bury on March 17. Moore was fined £120.

A MOTORIST has been banned from the roads for 13 months after he was caught drug-driving. Andrew Dickinson pleaded guilty to driving a Peugeot 207 on Milton Road, Radcliffe, on September 4 last year after using cannabis. Dickinson, aged 43, of Bolton Road, Radcliffe, was fined £150.

A SHOPLIFTER who stole a £130 coat from a Bury shop was jailed for a week. Jamie Hodgson, aged 31, of Foxglove Drive, Bury, took the EA7 Puffer coat from Loofes Menswear in The Millgate Shopping Centre on December 28 last year. Magistrates told him he had “a flagrant disregard for people and their property. In addition to the jail sentence, Hodgson was ordered to pay the shop £130 in compensation.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for 12 months after he admitted smearing excrement over the walls of a cell at Bury police station on April 5. Lovemore Mandega, aged 42, of Church Street, Prestwich, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage.

A SHOPLIFTER who attempted to steal an iPad case, worth £5, from Poundland in Bury on November 30 was jailed for seven days. Oliver McCarthy, aged 30, of no fixed address, was also ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £80 after he admitted possessing cannabis in Radcliffe on April 4. Kyle Taylor, aged 25, of Hamer Street, Radcliffe, had the drug forfeited.

MAGISTRATES have banned a man from driving for nine months after he was caught using a VW Golf on Bury Road, Radcliffe, on March 17 without insurance. Mohammed Javed, aged 26, of Hurst Street, Pimhole, Bury, pleaded guilty and was also fined £250.

A LAND ROVER Freelander driver has been fined £660 by magistrates for using the vehicle without a licence or insurance. Abdullah Safi, aged 37, of Knowles Street, Radcliffe, was caught using the vehicle on Frederick Street, Oldham, on December 23 last year.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £660 after he failed to name the driver of a Mercedes to police on December 28 last year. The case against Mohammed Beg, aged 48, of Milltown Street, Radcliffe, was proved at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.
