RESIDENTS in the Seddons Farm area are being urged to be vigilant after reports a man has been knocking on doors asking to buy people's jewellery.
Police have been told that a man with a southern accent has been asking to buy residents' old jewellery and making enquiries about watches or diamonds.
He has also been handing out flyers which may be bogus, according to reports.
A Greater Manchester Police Bury North spokesman said: "A male has been reported knocking on doors asking to purchase old/scrap jewellery and enquiring about watches or diamond rings.
"The male has a southern accent and is handing out flyers which may be bogus.
"This may be legitimate, however, we can not confirm this.
"If you are approached, please be wary."
