A DATE has been set for the trial of two boys, aged 14 and 15, accused of murdering Reece Tansey.

Judge Patrick Field QC, at Manchester Crown Court, set July 30 as the date for a plea and case preparation hearing. And October 18 was fixed as the trial date.

The two accused boys, one from Bolton and one from Farnworth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in court via a live video link for the brief hearing.

The pair were charged with murder after the fatal stabbing of Reece Tansey in the early hours of May 4.

Police were called to Walker Avenue, Great Lever, around 4.43am to reports of a stabbing.

Reece, 15, a Harper Green High student, was taken to hospital but died a short time later.
