POLICE officers have issued a warning about a bogus caller claiming to be selling mattresses.

A man, described as being aged between 30-40, has been targeting addresses in Unsworth and Whitefield.

Using a blue van, he has told residents he is from the Stoke-on-Trent area.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: "The man has been known to approach elderly residents asking if they want to buy a new mattress for £300 and even offering to reduce the price to £200 if the first offer is refused.

"This male will try to gain access to property and bedroom under the guise of checking the status of current mattress and removing covers.
