A MOTORIST who was caught drug driving in a BMW last night pretended to be his own father in an effort to fool police.

The driver caught the attention of speed enforcement officers yesterday evening on Radcliffe Road, Bury.

After being stopped and questioned, the foolish man attempted to give details of his dad to traffic police.

He was subsequently given a drugs test, which he failed. The car has since been seized by police and the driver reported to the relevant authorities.

A post to the GMP Traffic Twitter page indicates that the driver tested positive for cocaine and cannabis.

The driver also held no valid licence and the vehicle was not insured.

A Greater Manchester Police traffic spokesperson said: "Officers were conducting speed enforcement on Radcliffe Road, Bury, when his attention was drawn to the BMW 120.

"On being stopped, the driver tried to give the details of his dad. Found to have no licence or insurance. Failed a drugs test too."
