Ainsworth Road bridge, Bury, 1981
Major improvement work was underway at a notorious accident blackspot when this photo was taken in August 1981.
The narrow road bridge on Ainsworth Road was being widened and the temporary pedestrian footbridge was being removed.
The bridge went over the old Bury to Bolton line and the cutting underneath the bridge was to be filled in. The bridge was near the old Black Lane Station.
