A MAN has been taken to hospital after a car overturned on a major route through Bury at lunchtime.
Barn Street Westbound, in Whitefield, was blocked from around 12.20pm after an accident near A56 Bury New Road - close to Besses O'th Barn Church.
The accident resulted in heavy traffic following the afternoon collision, with bus services being diverted in the area for more than two hours.
A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
"We were called at 12.20 following a 999 call reporting that a car had overturned.
"We have taken a man to hospital."
