A leading premier provider of small sided football in the UK, have acquired the former PlayFootball site on Market Street.

Powerleague will invest in the Bury site giving upgrades from LED lighting to installing POWERPITCH playing surfaces when required, along with access to the new Powerleague to be launched in the year.

Current employees on the site at Market Street will keep their positions as the site gradually transitions into using new software in the coming weeks.

CEO of Powerleague, Christian Rose, said: "This site acquisition is a huge step for us, and we're delighted that we can bring Powerleague to everybody in Bury.

"We know how important these facilities are to so many in the community and we look forward to welcoming new and existing players to the centre.

"After a long and difficult pandemic for everybody in the area, it is so important to us that we are able to offer players an opportunity to return safely to the health and social activities that they enjoy.

"We're so proud of our small-sided football facilities and we know how beneficial it can be for the physical and mental well-being of everybody in Bury."

This announcement of the agreement with PlayFootball saw Powerleague take full control of other sites at Colchester and Luton, with another set to be procured in the next week.
