A HOUSING landlord has announced a new summertime photography competition to encourage tenants to capture the essence of their communities.

Six Town Housing, which manages nearly 8,000 properties owned by Bury Council, want tenants to photograph and share their favourite moments from the summer, such as family BBQs, community group activities or gardening,

All photos will be included in a social media album to inspire others and showcase Bury's communities, with the winner receiving a £50 online shopping voucher.

Sharon McCambridge, the company's chief executive, said: "The weather has been lovely this year and we want to encourage our tenants to show us how they've been enjoying their summer in their home and communities.

"We'll be sharing some ideas of how people can make the most of it on our social media pages and we hope when we share the album it will inspire others as well."

The deadline for the competition is Tuesday August 31, and Six Town Housing tenants can enter at www.sixtownhousing.org/shareyoursummer/.

One of this year's earliest entrants was a tenant who submitted a photograph of a "Thank You NHS" sing set against a rising sun.

Six Town Housing was established in April 2005 to manage Bury Council's housing stock and other assets, including garages, shops and community facilities.

All photos entered into the competition will be shared on the Six Town Housing Facebook page to inspire others to share their summer memories and experiences.
