MEMBERS of Prestwich Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club (PTCBC) are in mourning after one of the club's stalwarts passed away following a short illness.

Beryl Worsley was a member at The Heys for 70 years and served as a trustee for over a quarter of a century.

She initially played tennis competitively for the club and latterly played bowls, again competitively. She served on various committees and was a strong supporter of everything to do with PCTBC.

Club chairman Brian Lorenzini wrote on the PTCBC website: "Her service as a trustee helped oversee many massive improvements at the club, which has seen the club grow massively.

"I had the pleasure of meeting her parents many years ago and latterly her nephew John. Beryl was so proud of her mum and dad and loved bringing them to the club.

"Her nephew John has been looking after her recently and was regularly at her side in her last few days.

"Beryl was a significant supporter of Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary with her love of dogs being a major part of her life.

"She helped raise funds for them and over the last few years regularly walked their dogs as part of her daily routine.

"This a very sad day for PCTBC, as one of its stalwarts has passed."
