A hair stylist from Prestwich has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards.

Meg Piper, vivid and technical cutting specialist at Alchemy Hairdressing on Bury Old Road, is currently up for Stylist of the Year and Colourist of the Year at The Salon Awards.

Meg said: "It's an honour to be nominated again for The Salon Awards, after winning both categories last years, it's an amazing feeling to be recognised again.

"I can't wait for the ceremony, to be honest, it is a really big honour for me, and it took me by surprise to be up for the award again.

"I thought I would give it a go this year but didn't expect get through.

"To get recognition from some of the biggest names and the fact that they think I'm good enough means a lot to me.

"I fell in love with being a colour specialist, and feel very much like an alchemist or a potion-master, mixing up different waters and dyes."

Meg also owns her own business, Meg Piper Hair, where she provides more unusual and 'out-there' hairstyles and colours.

The former Bury College student added: "I have always been a very creative and out-there person and I wanted to be that person that others could go to and ask for more wild and unusual cuts because I didn't have that.

"It can be quite daunting to go into the salon and ask for a mullet or a mohawk so I like to be someone who police can be comfortable asking.

"From here, I want to keep on growing my brand and business and be the best artist that I can be."

The Salon Awards winners will be announced in a London ceremony in November.

Established in 2017, The Salon Awards are regional hair and beauty awards, founded to give recognition to all types of hairdresser and stylist in their local area.
