A 22-year-old man was arrested at this afternoon for attempting to steal parts from a car in Prestwich.
Police were called before 2:30 this afternoon to reports of two men attempting to steal from a car on Milton Road.
They threatened the car owner with a stick before leaving the scene in a grey VW Golf, stolen from Rochdale.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit patrolling the Cheetham Hill area saw the car, and engaged in a vehicle chase.
After chasing the men on foot, one was detained and arrested on suspicion of robbery, burglary and remains in custody for questioning.
