A free outdoor ice skating rink and plenty of other Christmas attractions are coming to Blackpool this festive season.

The festivities will kick off this November and will see Blackpool’s seafront transformed into a Christmas village, complete with the ice rink and “dazzling” festive light projection shows.

Blackpool Council and Visit Blackpool recently teased the announcement, posting the exciting updates to their social media accounts

Posting to Facebook, they wrote: “Get your skates on in time for a spectacular festive season.

“Running from November onwards, Blackpool’s seafront will turn into a fun-filled Christmas village with a magical ice rink, simulated snowfalls and dazzling projection shows.

“The outdoor winter skating rink will be free to use for both residents and visitors. We can’t wait!”

Christmas By The Sea will kick off on 19 November and run until 3 January.

Blackpool’s Tower Festival Headland will be transformed into a breath-taking festive village complete with the outdoor skating rink, simulated snowfalls, log cabins, magical forest, festive light projection shows and Santa Special tram rides in the shadow of the magnificent Blackpool Tower.

If ice skating isn’t your idea of fun, there are plenty of other Christmassy events taking place in Blackpool later this year.

The Blackpool Illuminations has been extended by two months and people can now enjoy six miles of spectacular seafront and town centre lights from now until 3 January 2021.

The Winter Gardens Wonderland will also be here from 9 December until 3 January.

At the Bavarian-style Christmas markets you can stroll around a wide selection of themed stalls, enjoy all the fun of the fair on the rides, meet Santa in his grotto, and get in the swing of things with some brilliant live entertainment.

Blackpool’s Grand Theatre will also be showing the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs pantomime from 3 December until 3 January.
