A crash between two cars in Prestwich caused long delays this afternoon.

Transport for Greater Manchester reported an accident on Bury New Road close to the junction of Kings Road in Prestwich which caused congestion in the area.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Police were called at around 1pm today (21 September) to a report of a collision involving two vehicles on Bury New Road, Prestwich.

"Emergency services attended and three people were taken to hospital as a precaution. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 1.15pm on Tuesday 21 September, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Bury New Road, Prestwich.

“One fire engine from Whitefield fire station quickly attended the incident. Firefighters made the area safe and helped treat two people at the scene who then made their own way to hospital.

“GMFRS crews were in attendance for around 45 minutes.”
