A SPAR store is hosting a month long fundraiser for a children's hospice.

Staff at Oswaldtwistle’s SPAR store owned by Nigel and Sue Masters kicked off the fundraiser at the start of October and will be hosting a variety of activities throughout the month.

Store managers Sue Preston and Michael Goodwin are leading the activities which have already included an in-store ‘guess the number of sweets’ competition, and the latest fundraising activity to launch is a mini raffle for store customers to enter with a range of great prizes.

The month will finish with a ‘Who’s that Bear?’ competition with customers guessing the name of the giant Derian bear in-store.

An overarching SPAR super raffle is running throughout the month of October too with a series of grand prizes including pub and meal vouchers, beauty treatments, hair salon vouchers, SPAR hampers, and much more.

Store manager Sue Preston said: “We wanted to do something big for October as Derian House is a charity close to our hearts, and it provides amazing support for families across the region.

“We’ve had a fantastic response to our call for raffle donations and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the community and businesses in Oswaldtwistle for such a brilliant response.

“Now we need to try and raise as much money as we can for Derian House through the sale of raffle tickets and competition entries to customers, and I look forward to adding up our total at the end of the month for this wonderful cause.”

Oswaldtwistle’s SPAR store is serviced by James Hall and Co. Ltd, based at Preston, who are the primary wholesaler and distributor for SPAR stores across the north of England.
