The end of the Derby Hotel is still mourned by many Bury residents who can remember this imposing establishment in the town centre.
This picture was taken in 1964 shortly before the decision was made to close it down and for it to be sold to a development company.
Opened in 1850, the hotel complete with its curved facade formed part of series of impressive buildings alongside the Derby Hall and the Atheneum.
Royalty stayed at the hotel on more than one occasion over the years but in 1965 it was demolished
