Radcliffe Male Voice Choir is set to turn100 and is planning two grand Christmas concerts to celebrate.
One is on December 4 at Bury Jubilee Centre for Age UK and the other on December 11 at Bolton Road Methodist Church.
The choir sung its first hymns in December 1921, has competed in prestigious choir competitions, earning a reputation for winning several competitions, often against choirs with almost twice as many members.
No stranger to challenging times, there were occasions when the choir neared extinction, when only committee members were at rehearsals.
Robert Peters, a choir member, said: βItβs a real honour to be part of this choir, because it has a real community feel to it. Due to social distancing rules we had to practice over Zoom and found many of us have actually improved over this time which is remarkable.β
