This was what greeted visitors to Ainsworth Isolation Hospital in 1970.
Founded in 1906, the hospital treated smallpox victims. Between 1913 and 1921, the home was also used for tuberculosis patients.
As vaccination programmes eliminated smallpox, the hospital was gradually used less and less before it closed in 1982. It subsequently became a nursing home which then closed in 2018
