AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a 31-year-old man was killed in a crash on a Bury Road this week.

The collision involved three vehicles and took place on Bury New Road, Whitefield on the morning of Thursday November 4.

Police and emergency services called at around 6.10am and have reported that one of the passengers has died as a result of injuries caused by the crash while another two passengers were injured while the driver and another passenger fled the scene.

Police Sergeant Andrew Page of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was a serious collision in which a man has very sadly lost his life and another remains in a serious condition in hospital.

"Our enquiries are currently ongoing to ensure we establish the full circumstances of this collision and we're appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, particularly those with dash-cam footage, to come forward and speak to police.

"If you witnessed the collision, the three vehicles in the area at the time or the two males who fled the scene then please get in touch with us as soon as possible."

On arriving at the scene officers established that a silver BMW 320D crossed the central reservation onto the opposing carriageway before colliding with a black Renault Megane.

The BMW was then involved in a further collision with a black Ford Transit.

His next of kin have been informed.

Two other passengers were also injured and one man, 48, remains in hospital, while another, age 30, was treated for minor injuries.

The driver and front seat passenger fled the scene on foot before police arrived.
