SUPPORTERS can still donate to a festive pyjamas appeal in memory of a brave Lancashire schoolgirl.

Charity bosses at Maddi's Butterflies, in Prestwich, have a longstanding mission to provide nightwear to young people staying in north-west hospitals.

And staff at the Bury New Road based outfit also like to hand out presents as part of the yuletide crusade.

Their inspiration is Madison Allan, from Darwen, who endured a brave battle with the aggressive cancer neuroblastoma.

She died on Boxing Day 2011 and her mum Samantha, who had been fundraising throughout Maddi's struggle, got together with family and friends to launch the charity.

For this year's appeal, Samantha said: "Every Christmas we always visit the oncology Wards at the local hospitals and deliver Christmas presents to all the children on the ward.

"Alongside their presents we like to to give them a brand new pair of pyjamas as we think that every child should receive a pair of pyjamas at Christmas."

This year the likes of Ward 86 at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Ward 3B at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and children visiting The Christie’s Proton Centre in Manchester, alongside, local children’s hospices, will benefit.

People can donate online at the charity's Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/samantha-allan5

Pyjamas and other nightclothes can also be dropped off for the appeal at their charity shop, which is located at 446 Bury New Road, Prestwich, M25 1AZ, or Maddi’s Butterflies, 3 Lords Crescent, Lower Darwen, BB3 0SU, before December 5.
