COUSINS Ollie and Harvey Roberts have been recognised for their entrepreneurship and talent.

The 13 years old cousins, hailed has Britain's youngest blacksmiths, have been ceebrated for showing you're never too young to help your community.

After 18 months of uncertainty during the pandemic, Wrexham Lager and F Jones Food Service created the The F Jones Initiative.

The most recent people to be recognised are Ysgol Rhosnesni pupils Harvey and Ollie.

During the first lockdown, the boys took an interest in their grandad Andrew’s workshop, where he does metalwork and blacksmithing.

Their grandad gradually taught them blacksmith skills, and they now work alongside him in their spare time, in his workshop, creating wonderful metalwork pieces.

Their story has already been told on ITV news at ten, where they were given the title of Britain’s youngest Blacksmith, and Channel 4's Steph’s Packed Lunch, and BBC’s Newsround.

The majority of the time they are working alongside their grandad, however they do also create pieces independently in Ollie’s workshop in the garage of his house.

They have received orders from many parts of the UK, France, Slovakia and Italy. They have made many wonderful, unique pieces, metal roses, daffodils, pigs, rabbits, bottle holders, garden ornaments, are just a few examples. They created an impressive mickey mouse for their cousin, born in lockdown, which they have since re-created for many subsequent orders.

As O & H Metalwork, the boys have also recently designed a spectacular 4ft carp, made entirely from donated spoons, commissioned by the local Council and displayed at the centre of Acton Park Lake.

Their latest project is a 10ft horseshoe, made entirely from horseshoes, that proudly stands

outside the old Acton Smithy in Wrexham.

They have also been contacted by The British Ironworks in Oswestry who have commissioned them to create a 5 ft dolphin made entirely from spoons.

The boys were asked to be part of the Remembrance Day Parade on November 14 and lay a wreath.

They are also raised money for BBC Children in Need by creating a Pudseys from horseshoes.

The boys spend a few hours a week after school in the workshops, most Saturdays and almost every day in school holidays, creating and designing their pieces.

Jon Roberts, of Wrexham Lager, said: "We loved Ollie and Harvey’s story for many reasons. The multi-generational working together and the passing of knowledge and skills from one generation to another, we feel is something to be celebrated, along with their incredible work ethic, natural talent and entrepreneurship.

"It also highlights that you are never too young to start and we hope their story is an inspiration to others!"
