Having praised the supporters for their role in the win at Stoke City Tony Mowbray hopes a similar atmosphere can be achieved at Ewood Park in a bid to keep the positive results coming.

A travelling support of 1,600 made the trip to the Potteries and backed their side from the off to help inspire a 1-0 victory that moved Mowbray’s men into the top six.

Over 13,000 home fans watched the 3-1 win over Sheffield United prior to the international break, aided by the anniversary ticket offer, but three times they have had crowds of under 10,000.

Mowbray hopes the attendance figure will rise in a bid to keep the positivity going, believing that his young side feed off the energy of the crowd, as they did against Stoke.

He said: “I think it’s great to see so many of them travelling up and down the country to support this team.

“I’ve talked long and hard about how important the fans are at Ewood because they can lift the team when they get engaged with the supporters, but if we can get more people in at home I honestly believe that the results will roll on positively.

“You can see what happens when you have such a big away support on the road, because the team are able to find the extra yard and extra bit of energy.”

Matchwinner Reda Khadra was able to celebrate his goal infront of the travelling fans and was also full of praise for their role in the win.

“The goal was very important for me but more important for the team,” he explained to the club website of the goal that moved Rovers into the top six.

“It was a goal full of emotion, I think that could be seen in the celebrations.

To score against Sheffield United and now Stoke, it’s a great feeling to have found the net and to help the team in recent weeks.

“The fans helped us a lot.

“Without fans, football would be nothing and they helped us, they pushed us on and were so important.

“I want to show the fans what I can do and to do my best on the pitch.”
